Centennial Colorado -Still considered young, was formed on February 7, 2001, from portions of unincorporated Arapahoe County, including the former Castlewood and Southglenn census-designated places. The citizens of the area had voted to incorporate on September 12, 2000, choosing Centennial as the official name during the vote. The name reflects Colorado’s admission to the Union as the 38th state in 1876, the centennial year of the United States Declaration of Independence. The state of Colorado is nicknamed the “Centennial State”.
The City is filled with well-kept neighborhoods, dozens of groomed parks and a variety of recreational facilities. Centennial is not only Colorado’s newest city, but it has been ranked as Colorado’s safest city making it a great place to raise a family. With neighborhoods like Castlewood, which is close to Fiddler’s Green Amphitheater and the Park Meadows, it’s a no wonder “In Castlewood, the current vacancy rate is 0.0%, which is a lower rate of vacancies than 100.0% of all neighborhoods in the U.S. This means that the housing supply in Castlewood is very tight compared to the demand for property here.” according to NeighborhoodScout.com
Just west of Castlewood is the competition. This is were Southglenn is located in Centennial. Southglenn also offers an amazing shopping district at The Streets of Southglenn, which has everything you could ask for. From restaurants and clothing stores to fitness centers and apartment living right in the center.
Home to more than 100,000 residents in more than 38,000 households. As of April 2015 the unemployment rate is 4.5% in Centennial. On September 10, 2008, it was announced that Centennial had been chosen as the site of the first IKEA store in Colorado. The IKEA location here opened on July 27, 2011. It is the second largest IKEA store in the United States. It’s the 10th largest city in Colorado. With the median household income being $90,090 and roughly 58,000 jobs, this is a great place to be and have a great lifestyle at the same time.
